Astrology was more advanced as a science in ancient times it is today. Now it is still only, in a sense, being rediscovered. It would therefore be wise to look to ancient traditions as guides to present developments. One feature that stands out most clearly in the ancient writings is the emphasis that was placed on astrology as a guide to personal development, rather than as a mere statement of problems with no suggestion of a solution.
